Welcome to HouseJester ("we," "our," or "us"). These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the HouseJester website and services (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Platform.

HouseJester is a directory platform connecting consumers with furniture retailers, interior designers, and home improvement specialists across the United Kingdom. We provide:

• Business listings and profiles
• Search and discovery tools
• Contact and inquiry facilitation
• Reviews and ratings
• Featured content and promotions

HouseJester acts solely as an intermediary platform. We do not provide furniture, design services, or other products directly.

3.1 Registration

To submit a business listing or access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of unauthorized access
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

3.2 Account Types

We offer different user types:

• General Users: Browse and search listings, submit reviews
• Vendors: Create and manage business listings
• Administrators: Platform management and moderation

4.2 Listing Guidelines

All listings must:

• Represent a legitimate UK-based business
• Contain accurate and truthful information
• Not include offensive, misleading, or illegal content
• Comply with UK advertising standards
• Be relevant to furniture, interiors, or home improvement

4.3 Approval Process

All submitted listings undergo review before publication. We reserve the right to reject or remove any listing that violates these Terms or our content guidelines.

5.1 Subscription Fees

Pro and Premium plans are recurring subscriptions. Monthly and annual billing options are listed in GBP and exclude VAT unless stated otherwise.

5.2 Payment Processing

Payments are processed securely through Clerk Billing. We accept major credit and debit cards. Payment information is handled directly by our payment processor and not stored on our servers.

5.3 Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew annually unless cancelled. You will receive a reminder email 7 days before renewal.

5.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial periods.

5.5 Refund Policy

Refunds are provided only in the following circumstances:

• Technical error resulting in duplicate charges
• Listing rejected within 7 days of payment
• Service unavailability exceeding 48 consecutive hours

Refund requests must be submitted within 14 days of the charge.

6.1 Backlink Requirement

Free listings must maintain an active backlink to HouseJester from their website. The backlink must:

• Be visible on a publicly accessible page
• Link to housejester.com using anchor text including "HouseJester"
• Not use nofollow or other restrictive attributes
• Remain active for the duration of the listing

6.2 Verification

We verify backlinks before approving free listings and conduct periodic checks. Listings with removed or invalid backlinks may be suspended or removed without notice.

You agree not to:

• Submit false or misleading information
• Impersonate another person or business
• Upload malicious code or viruses
• Scrape or harvest data from the Platform
• Manipulate reviews or ratings
• Spam users with unsolicited communications
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Interfere with the Platform's operation

8.1 Platform Content

The Platform's design, code, text, graphics, and other content (excluding user submissions) are owned by HouseJester and protected by intellectual property laws.

8.2 User Content License

By submitting content (listings, images, reviews), you grant HouseJester a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content on the Platform.

8.3 Copyright Infringement

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on the Platform infringes your copyright, contact us immediately with details of the alleged infringement.

9.1 Platform Availability

We strive to maintain Platform availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not liable for downtime, data loss, or technical issues.

9.2 Third-Party Services

We are not responsible for the quality, accuracy, or legality of services provided by businesses listed on the Platform. Users contract directly with listed businesses.

9.3 Maximum Liability

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Platform shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Platform at any time for:

• Violation of these Terms
• Fraudulent or illegal activity
• Non-payment of subscription fees
• Abuse of the Platform or other users
• Other conduct we deem harmful to the Platform

Upon termination, your listings will be removed, and any prepaid fees are non-refundable.

11.1 Informal Resolution

We encourage users to contact us first to resolve disputes informally.

11.2 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or Platform announcement. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
